I love this smoothie after a hike or run on a cool morning. It's warming and gives me sustained energy.
Ingredients:
1 cup filtered water
1 cup of greens, blanched in boiling water - kale, spinach, arugula, parsley, and/or any combination of those. (I don’t mind them warm and it is better for digestion)
10 drops of liquid stevia
1/2 teas Himalayan sea salt
1 tbsp. dulse flakes (thyroid and bone support)
1 teas. ghee - (nourishing and moisturizing for your whole body)
1/4 avocado (healthy fats and fiber)
1/2 teas. ground cinnamon or cardamon (great for a cool morning and cinnamon helps balance blood sugar)
1 scoop organic, hemp protein powder (omega 3 fatty acids and fiber)
Makes one serving.
Optional: I also add a dried sprig of Irish moss to boost thyroid function and energy metabolism.
Add all ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend until smooth. Drink in this delicious, nutrition-packed nectar.
FYI - I never make or drink an ice-cold smoothie (or any drink) because it's an added stressor on your body, especially during colder months. Who needs that?
